I am delighted to be apart of The Next Big Thing Blog Hop originated by middle grade writer Leslie Zampettiand tagged to me via her participant and my critique partner extraordinaire, Stacey Wilke, another middle grade writer. Please take a moment to read about my exciting latest project.
The Next Big Thing is a blog tour showcasing authors and their work. Each author must answer the ten questions below and then “tag” other authors they think are the next big thing! What fun! Who doesn’t love a good game of tag?! (Make sure to read all the way to the bottom so you can see who I tagged as the Next Big Thing!)
What is the working title of your book?
Where did the idea come from for the book?
I write romantic comedies about women facing real circumstances who discover themselves and the loves of their lives. This book has a ghost in it, my first “ghost story.” I’m a diehard Scorpio and I love mystical and spiritual realms. The idea came to me one day while I was polishing my Great Great Aunt Clara’s rocking chair.
What genre does your book fall under?
Contemporary Romance with paranormal elements
What actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
That’s a tough one. I’d want someone kind of kooky but earthy and genuine for the female lead. And, the male lead, well Ryan Gossling could fit just fine.
What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?
Discovering the presence of a ghost in her house, a recently orphaned young woman learns through an old letter that she has a long-lost sister and she and an unlikely comrade, a local businessman hell bent on no involvement, begin a search that reveals more than they bargain for.
Will yourbook be self-published or represented by an agency?
This WIP will be my fifth romance. All previous romances have been published through The Wild Rose Press and I will seek representationf or this one as well.
How long did it take you to write your first draft?
I’m still in the middle of this one. I have another contemporary romance, Letters and Lace, due to release soon and I’ve been juggling my time. I project, however, that the first draft od Restless Spirit will be complete mid-summer.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Think “Ghost” with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
My critique partners. I’ve been talking about writing a ghost story for a while now and they encouraged me to go for it.
What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?
The title is a metaphor. We are all “restless spirits” in our own way. And, although there is an actual ghost or spirit in the story, the self-revelation of the main characters and their struggles with their own restlessness is the “meat” of the story.
